Ranbir Kapoor on getting nude in films: A man’s full-frontal is not beautiful
Ranbir Kapoor finds getting completely nude for films violent and that a man’s full-frontal is neither beautiful nor cinematic.
Ranbir Kapoor bared his rear in his debut film Saawariya (2007) itself. In a much-talked about ‘towel dropping’ scene, audiences got a glimpse of Ranbir’s buttocks as he sang Jab Se Tere Naina for fellow actor Sonam Kapoor who also debuted in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
Now, the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actor has decided to not go nude for a film EVER. In the recent episode of #NoFilterNeha, a podcast with Neha Dhupia, Ranbir said that he would never do a full-frontal (getting naked completely) for any film and that a man getting fully naked is not “cinematic and beautiful” but in fact, it is “a little violent”.
Ranbir recalled the infamous scene from Saawariya where he bared his behind for a while and said that he had to be “butt naked” with 100 people behind the cameras.
The 33-year-old actor also spoke of a unit member, who had been appointed to just blow the fan, but instead the person would begin laughing out loud whenever Ranbir opened his towel.
Bollywood films, as it is, is very coy about nudity. While female bodies are objectified and exhibited left, right and centre, not many men ‘expose’ themselves on camera in the true sense of the word. Few actors who have done so, so far, are John Abraham for New York, Neil Nitin Mukesh for Jail, Aamir Khan for PK and Rajkumar Rao for Shahid.
Meanwhile, Ranbir’s latest film that released in theatres on October 28 is growing day by a day in terms of box-office figures. The Karan Johar film has given Ranbir his biggest box office opening weekend so far.
